Lil Clinard - Aqua Alta Venice
Transparent watercolor painting by Lil Clinard.
Artist Statement: Keeping it real but with a sense of wonder is everything! It is always the play of light that I am drawn to by any scene. Light’s elusive quality can transform a landscape with shadows, reflections and sparkles. It is my inspiration! I strive to convey my sense of wonder by capturing the play of light and the wonderful colors that emerge especially where water is present. I paint in a realistic manner, not photographic realism, but in an impressionistic manner letting the viewer complete the picture. Watercolors lend themselves to this style and approach perfectly. I paint on a variety of surfaces and experiment with watercolor media and techniques. My work has been juried into the National Juried Show in Knoxville TN several times. My painting of "Venice" won “Best of Show” in the 2018 Tennessee Artists Association Juried Show, and a waterfall painting won in 2015. My boat and waterfall paintings have been in the TnWS Exhibitions 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
