Artist Statement:
Katryn Bowe is an American figurative artist specializing in watercolors. Katryn’s artwork explores the mystery of botanical and anatomical structures. She approaches painting as a language to understand, and then communicate, the complex systems that underpin nature. Katryn is particularly drawn to organic forms with fractal-based structures, intricate topographies, and transcendent patterns. Katryn pushes the watercolor medium towards photography by using tiny brushes and saturated pigments. Restrained and monochromatic palettes often define her work, but she is exploring more colorful spectrums as well. She chooses this approach, however uncommon in watercolor, to convey the complicated structures inherent to nature.
